JOAN ATHEY GATHERING, JUNE 3, 2025
A big thank you to Joan Athey for sharing the photos from a gathering of CBC friends at her home on June 3, 2025. In Joan's own words...
"I am happy to report a very satisfying gathering this afternoon. I baked two slabs of traditional shortcake, picked up fresh strawberries and Karen Wilson helped me set up and slice the strawberries. We offered sparkling wine and orange juice.
In case anyone might have trouble finding the house, a CBC Atlanta Games flag adorned my front porch.
I had 15 confirmations, but there were 5 people who at the last minute couldn’t come. But three arrived who had not RSVP’d. For the 13 people who did make it, we all enjoyed some laughs, old stories and news about recent travels. Not everybody knew each other so that was nice watching people piece together experiences they had in common.
There was a hilarious exit scene: when Ron Devion went to put on his shoes to leave, they were no where to be found. But a pair of similar shoes were there. Yes. Someone had taken his shoes instead of their own." (Joan reports she did track down the culprit).
