IAN STEPHEN, retired CBC Vancouver Radio Technician, passed away on March 30, 2012 in Campbell River, B.C. at the age of 87.

FRANK FRY, former broadcaster and Program Manager, CBC Yukon, passed away on March 21, 2012.  He was 61 years of age.

FRASER DYMOND, career Radio Technician at CBN Radio, St. John's, Newfoundland, passed away on March 18, 2012 at age 87.

LISA SIMPSON, former CBC Saskatchewan and B.C. employee in radio and television journalism, passed away in Victoria, B.C. on February 29, 2012, ending a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.  Lisa was 46 years of age.

CRAIG ARMSTRONG, former CBC Toronto TV Reporter/Producer/Evening News Service Manager, passed away in Picton, Ontario on February 23, 2012 at age 86.

ALMA WARBURTON passed away in Maple Ridge, B.C. on February 21, 2012 just three months shy of reaching her 108th birthday.  Alma was the widow of former CBC Toronto Set Designer William Warburton who passed away in 1984 (approx).  Alma held the distinction of being the oldest member of the CBC Pensioners' National Association and had been a member of the British Columbia and Yukon Region of the Association since its founding.

DEAN HEYWOOD, retired CBC Ottawa Cameraman, passed away on holiday in Costa Rica on February 20, 2012.at the age of 59.

BILL HARPER, retired CBC Halifax Producer/Director, passed away on February 18, 2012 at the age of 82, succumbing to injuries sustained in a car accident that day.

ROY LEBLANC passed away on February 18, 2012 in Richmond, B.C.  Roy was a freelance cameraman with CBC Vancouver Television News from 1956 to 1985.  He was 88 years old.

DODI ROBB, former Regional Director, CBC Maritimes and Head of Daytime and Children's Television Programming, CBC Network, Toronto, passed away in Ontario on February 17, 2012 at the age of 92.

AUDREY BROCK passed away on February 14, 2012 at age 84.  Audrey joined CBC Vancouver's Sales Department in 1963 as a Sales Clerk and rose to the position of Manager, TV Opsenter, TV Presentation and Scheduler.  She retired in 1986.

KEN LOOK, a CBC North retiree, passed away in Edmonton on February 13, 2012 following a 25-year battle with heart disease.  He was 68 years of age.

HAROLD NELSON, a long-time fixture at CBC's The National, passed away in early February, 2012.  Harold was known for his encyclopedic memory of film footage and could retrieve needed shots from archives in a hurry.  He was 82 years old.

SUZANNE WOOLRIDGE passed away January 31, 2012 at the age of 60, bringing to a close her battle with ALS.  Suzanne was a CBC Newfoundland Arts Producer and broadcaster.

ED DYKAS, CBC Toronto Senior Set Decorator, passed away on January 23, 2012.

CYNTHIA LAUK, wife of former CBC British Columbia Regional Director Len Lauk, passed away on January 21, 2012 in North Vancouver, B.C. at the age of 91. 

ELIZABETH ROLLINS, former Supervisor, Central Registry in the Personnel Department of CBC Vancouver, passed away on January 20, 2012.  Elizabeth was 86 years of age.

ROS CHISLETT (nee KISS), formerly with the Finance Department, CBC St. John's, passed away suddenly in St. John's, Newfoundland during the week ending January 14, 2012.  Ros was in her mid-50's.

GRANT PASIUK, a retiree of CBC Regina, passed away at home in that city on January 13, 2012.  In his career with CBC, Grant was a Production Assistant on CFL games as well as studio productions.  He was 75 years of age.

LARRY SOLWAY, TV and Radio Broadcaster, passed away in Toronto on January 9, 2012 following a battle with bladder cancer.  He was 83 years old.

DAVID TRIBE, retired CBC Toronto Production Manager for 5th Estate and TV Current Affairs, passed away on January 6, 2012 at the age of 73.

BEVERLEY EARL, widow of Ralph Earl (Lighting Director, Tommy Hunter, etc.), passed away on January 3, 2012 in Scarborough, Ontario.

IAN GLENDAY, former CBC Toronto/Ottawa Manager, passed away on January 2, 2012.  Ian spearheaded CBC's introduction to Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and also served two one-year terms as president of the RTNDA in 1983 and 1986.  He was 78 years of age.

DOUG SELLARS, former Executive Producer, CBC Network Sports, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2011, at age 50.

NORMAN NEWTON passed away on December 27, 2011 at age 82.  Norman was an author, actor, composer, librettist and CBC Radio music and drama producer.

STEVE HOOK, former CBC Announcer, Yellowknife and Edmonton; Program Supervisor, Prince Rupert; and Manager, Radio Operations, Vancouver, passed away in Sarnia, Ontario on December 27, 2011 after a long illness. He was 71 years of age.

BOBBIE HACKNEY, wife of Harry Hackney, passed away in Victoria, B.C. on December 27, 2011 at the age of 82.

JACQUI MILLER, former CBC Edmonton Script Assistant/Director/Producer, passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on December 26, 2011 at the age of 58.

MARY KEETBAAS, CBC Calgary retiree, passed away in that city on December 13, 2011.  She was 92 years of age.

RUDY PENITSCH passed away peacefully on December 3, 2011 at the age of 93.  Rudy was with CBC Vancouver first as a Camera Assistant and later as Film Librarian, the position he held until his retirement.

ART CRIGHTON, former CBC Toronto Radio Producer of the programme Fresh Air, passed away in that city on November 18, 2011.  Art was 86 years of age.

MARGARET WEISBORD, CBC Radio Violinist, passed away in Kelowna, B.C. on November 7, 2011.  She was 97 years old.

ROY MARTIN, former CBC Toronto Still Photographer/Broadcast Materials Librarian, passed away in Brampton, Ontario on November 5, 2011. He was 74 years of age.

JEAN METHOT, retired CBC Corporate Director Materials Management, Ottawa Head Office, passed away on October 31, 2011, ending his battle against lung cancer.  He was 80 years old.

CAROL ANN BYRD, wife of Jim Byrd (former Vice President, CBC Television and Executive Vice President, CBC Television), passed away suddenly at home in St. John's, Newfoundland on October 27, 2011 ending a courageous battle with cancer. 

JACQUELYN ROBINSON, widow of Tom Robinson (retired CBC Vancouver Chief Announcer - passed away December 27, 2010), passed away on October 25, 2011 at age 85.

SHIRLEY KING, widow of former CBC Montreal/Ottawa/Toronto/Vancouver Finance Manager Jim King who died in 2006, passed away on September 30, 2011 in Abbotsford, B.C. ending her battle with cancer. Shirley was 77 years old.

JUDY ST.GEORGE-WADDELL, known to her CBC friends and the public as JUDY PIERCEY, passed away on September 29, 2011 following a brief and fierce battle against cancer.  Judy was the first female on-camera TV newscaster with CBC Vancouver.  Judy was 74 years of age. 

JIM ROBERTSON, former Transmitter Technician with CBC Edmonton, passed away on September 12, 2011.  Jim was 63 years of age.

MARC TURENNE, former CBC Regina/Vancouver Technician and laterally Regional Operations Manager with CBC Vancouver, died suddenly on September 2, 2011 when his canoe capsized in Lake Winnipeg.  Marc was 54 years of age.

DON DALTON, CBC Ottawa Finance/Audit retiree, passed away peacefully in Ottawa on August 31, 2011.

GEORGE DESMOND, former CBC Toronto Head of Contracting, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2011 after a short illness.  He was 96 years of age.

LAMONT TILDEN, retired CBC Toronto Announcer/Commentator, passed away on August 8, 2011 in his 98th year.

DOROTHY GARDNER, former CBC Toronto Script Assistant/Head of Casting, passed away in Toronto on August 8, 2011, just a few days after suffering a major stroke.  She was 85 years old.

JOHN HARLING, former CBC Vancouver Film Sound Technician, passed away in North Vancouver on August 2. 2011 ending a stoic battle with cancer.  He was 76 years of age.

JIM BULLEN, former CBC Winnipeg TV Maintenance Equipment Manager, passed away at age 76 on August 1, 2011 after a short and hard-fought battle with mesothelioma asbestos cancer. 

ARNIE BEARD, retired CBC Toronto Audio Technician, passed away in that city on July 26, 2011.  Arnie was 75 years of age.

JACKIE COINNER, CBC Vancouver retiree Doug Horner's partner, passed away in Vancouver on July 21, 2011.  She was 84 years old.

ELWY YOST, well known TV Host (Passport to Adventure and Saturday Night at the Movies), passed away in West Vancouver, B.C. on July 21, 2011 at the age of 86.

GORDON CANCILLA, former CBC Winnipeg Accounting Department staffer, passed away in that city on July 19, 2011.  Gordon was 75 years of age.

MICHAEL MAGEE, well-known Canadian performer and author perhaps best remembered for his characterization of Fred C. Dobbs, passed away on July 15, 2011 in Ontario.  Michael was 81 years of age.

PETER BURGESS, former CBC Engineering pioneer, passed away in Ontario on July 4, 2011 at the age of 87.  Peter's 35 year career with the Corporation saw him working in Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal.

JEAN WHITMAN, wife of Hugh Doherty (former Executive Producer of TV News in Edmonton in the mid-to-late 70's and retired some years ago from Newsworld Halifax), passed away on June 30, 2011.  Jean was 76 years of age.

TED VOTEARY, formerly on staff with CBC Toronto in the Materials Management Department, passed away on June 24, 2011 in Peterborough, Ontario at the age of 79.

RENE CHARRIER, former Assistant Manager for French CBC Radio, Regina; Producer for Soundtrack, CBC Winnipeg; ad Music Producer for CHFA/Radio-Canada passed away on June 21, 2011.  Rene was 82 years old.

PETER TAYLOR, former CBC Toronto Technical Producer, passed away in Ontario on June 6, 2011.  Peter was 90 years of age.

ANDY SNIDER passed away on June 3, 2011 in Victoria, B.C. at age 88.  Andy joined CBC Vancouver staff in 1954 as a Technical Producer and Props Manager, subsequently becoming a Television Producer.  Although he produced many other programs and series for CBC Television, his name is synonymous with the Klahanie series.  He retired in 1984.

JENNIE DIMENT, long term Make-Up Artist with CBC Edmonton from the 1960's through the 1990's, passed away on June 2, 2011.  Jennie would have celebrated her 80th birthday on July 7th, 2011.

GRACE WAGSTAFF, formerly a Secretary with TV Sales, CBC Toronto, passed away on May 28, 2011 in Burlington, Ontario.

MURIEL INCH, wife of former CBC Edmonton employee Eric Inch, passed away on May 26, 2011 at the age of 73.  (Eric Inch worked in the Technical and Engineering areas of CBC.)

GEORGE BLOOMFIELD passed away in Toronto on May 13, 2011 after a lengthy battle with heart disease, diabetes, cancer and kidney disease.  George was a director, writer and teacher and was considered an 'actor's director' , from The Ectasy of Rita Joe to SCTV to CBC's Festival dramas to Due South.

GARY CAMPBELL GILFILLAN passed away on May 3, 2011 in Toronto, age 76, from cancer.  Gary joined CBC Toronto as a Set Decorator and became a TV Production Assistant, then Music Producer and Music Consultant, TV Production Services. 

ROBERT PARKER passed away at age 80 on April 22, 2011 from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  Robert was with CBC Toronto, 1954 to 1991, as Stagehand, Set Decorator, Senior Set Decorator and Manager of Set Decoration and Special Effects.
