SCRAPBOOK: ROVERS AT LAKE LOUISE AND LEPRECHAUNS, KEN GIBSON COLL #14

PHOTO SCRAPBOOK
THE IRISH ROVERS AT LAKE LOUISE AND LEPRECHANS,
KEN GIBSON COLLECTION #14
_________________________________________________________

Photos 1 - 3. February 1975. The Irish Rovers (Will Millar, Jimmy Ferguson, George Millar, Joe Millar, Wilcil McDowell) were in Banff/Lake Louise with a CBC Vancouver crew to tape a half hour show in the snow.

Photos 4 - 17. "Tales to Warm Your Mind" was a weekly, short musical /comedy segment designed for children in The Irish Rovers half hour TV series. Initially the songs and skits featured the three leprechauns: Will as sensible Willy, Jimmy as greedy Bun Worrier, and George as his demented sidekick, the Twerp. Eventually the segments included fractured fairy tales and songs with the three made up and dressed in various costumes, and occasionally Joe and Wilcil were involved. Brigitte Schweickhardt was responsible for a variety of magnificent costumes, with Beverley Takeuchi and Jacky Wilkinson complimenting with superb character make-up. Take a peek.

17. Here's a great photo. The Twerp (George) and Bun Worrier (Jimmy) were miraculously changed by Will (with the word "Ballyslapmagutrick") for misbehaving into their younger selves (that's George's son Jon and Jimmy's daughter Erin, well over 25 years ago).

Photographs are a wonderful part of memories, and very often they form part of collective as much as individual memories.  That’s what this segment is all about – the memories we share of CBC English and French, Television and Radio productions and the people who have made them happen through the years in either work or social settings.  We hope you will enjoy the collections posted here and will search your own and let us share them too.  If you have just one picture or dozens, send them in!

The supply of photographs that your Stationbreak.ca team has to draw from for new Scrapbook and Flashback postings is running out, so PLEASE, dig out your albums and boxes of photos taken prior to the year 2000 and send in your collections for us to share.  Whether the pictures were captured during filming/taping of productions, in the CBC offices, or at social functions with CBC colleagues on or off the CBC premises, we’d love to have them.  If you’re able to scan and send them via e-mail, that would be wonderful, or if you’re willing to loan the original photos we will scan and return them to you.  Please contact Peggy Oldfield via https://goo.gl/QNvaxu and she will supply her direct e-mail address or contact you to make arrangements for scanning of your photos.  We can’t keep these sections going without your input so, in advance, THANK YOU for taking the time to help us.
